A new Crunch Champion has been crowned, and Edwin Tanedo and John Le’s duopoly of the title has finally been broken. Mike R., aka Twist, is the latest Crunch titleholder as he won two consecutive games last Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Cedar Mill Ballys in Portland, OR, against Adam Crane, John Le, Scott Nelson, Jonas Reyes, and Edwin Tanedo.
The first game belonged to Crane, who made every short jumper and cleaned up at the free throw line. The second game was won by Reyes, who drained a barrage of 3-pointers from the right wing and uncharacteristically closed the game out by making his free throws. Like Tanedo last week, Mike R. was battling a cold, but he was able to overcome his illness and won the third and fourth games to take the title.
“It was a tough day. I don’t think I was as sick as Edwin was the previous time, but I still had to overcome poor free throw shooting for my first win,” claimed Mike R. “I want to thank all of the little people for my win, specifically Edwin, because it wouldn’t be as sweet without them.”
